I want to use a picture in my pictures folder for my account avatar on startup but only have the choice of default icons or take a picture.

Can someone tell me how to use other pics please.

You need to reach 500 post to unlock avatars. Sucks, I know.

Open up System Preferences, then go to Users, and drag and drop the image from Finder that you want to use to your current icon. ;)

Did you even read the OP's post?

It clearly states "on startup". The OP is talking about his or her computer, not MacRumors.

OP: as Drew said, you can drag and drop over your current picture in your user settings or you can click on your current picture and it will allow you browse your computer.

Cheers guys.
Done ;) Still learning since moving over from Windows.
