How to change Safari's download behavior?

I know I can press the Option key when I click a link to save it to a different location. But is there a way to make that Safari's default behavior, instead of always downloading to the specified folder in Preferences? Some Terminal command, perhaps?

i don't think there is anything like that in prefrences, so i reccomend putting a heavy marble on your option key..
