No, this survey has to do with whether DB2 should be ported to MacOS X.

It has nothing at all to do with processors. IBM is a very big company. DB2 runs on many platforms (altho some versions, such as the NT version, are small subsets of the Unix variants). They have been chasing Oracle's market share for some time in the Unix area.

In my experience, DB2 handles more data and runs much faster than Oracle. I'd welcome them to Mac OS X, altho lately I'm leaning more towards PostgreSQL.

But certainly this particular software department in IBM (and they have many others, too) is far, far removed from anything having to do with chips.
 
Ok, I was reading too much into the article! Would have been nice to get some pointers as to whether we will get the Power4 chip + if so, when.
