iBook crashed, strange error message

My friend was using her iBook when suddenly the screen went black and the following error flashes in the upper left corner of the screen in command line fashion:

dyld: Symbol not found: dyld_lazy_symbol_binding_entry_point
Referenced from: /usr/lib/libncurses.5.4.dylib
Expected in: /usr/lib/libncurses.5.4.dylib

Anybody have any idea what this is? It's a 500Mhz iBook G3 running OSX 10.4.7 (I believe). Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

What apps were she running right before this occurred and what third party hardware was connected?

As far as I know she was uploading photos to iPhoto from her Kodak digital camera.

Weird. So is it working normally now? If she still has that screen, does it change when she unplugs the camera?

No, it's still that way. She unplugged the camera and I restarted the computer a few times, but after the initial grey screen with the apple logo that black screen comes up.

Okay, that's bizarre. Get her to reset the PRAM and if that doesn't help, then boot from the OSX discs and try repairing the hard drive. I imagine an Archive & Install would help, but hopefully we can fix it more easily.

Yeah, I've never seen anything like it before either. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give them a try when I see her tomorrow.
