When I put my iBook to sleep, sometimes I come back, open the lid and all I get is a blank, dark screen.. USB Keyboard and Mouse won't wake it, press of a key, powerbutton etc. It won't even restart from a force-restart. I have to take out the battery and then press the power button and that fixes it. Anybody know why?

That was fixed in 10.3.8 so make sure you are running 10.3.8!

It is really aggravating, I agree. But to shut down like that is BAD NEWS. Start off your installer disk, and then go to the Installer menu and choose Disk Utility. Once there, click on your hard drive and then choose "Repair Disk". That way any damage you did to the file system will hopefully be repaired.

So you're saying whenever I do this I should repair the disk? I have 10.3.8 running and this still happens. It seems different from other user's problems because they can restart witih the power button. I'm left with taking out the battery

Shutting it down by yanking the battery can mess up the file system on the hard drive.

Try repairing permissions, then restart and repair your disk like I told you above. Worth a shot.
