I'm just grateful that they finally restored my faith. I was really, really (and I'm serious) close to going to the dark side. I figured what did I have to loose? (Yeah, it was that bad, for real.)

I'm just happy I will have a new machine (it's too late for my current project, but oh well) and hopefully I won't have to tell angry clients that my machine is down ever again. The whole thing was a nightmare - I mean a nightmare. As of Monday, I had hit a total dead end, and engineering DID finally get back - blaming it all, once again, on software.

Thanks GOd I wrote that letter, or I'd still have a broken machine.

Shame on Apple for setting up whatever climate there is that makes product specialists and Genius' reluctant to help with dire situations like mine, and kudos to them for doing the right thing in the end.

Again - thanks to everyone for the support and kind words - I think I would have gone nuts without this thread to vent.

What is your letter writing fee? I would love for you to write a similar letter to Volkswagen of America. With that type of letter I might actually get somewhere.

There are no dual 2.7's any longer, except in refurb.

I had to pretend to be "semi interested" when he said "would a new machine - the Quad PowerMac be satisfactory?"

I was like, "uh, sure I guess that sounds OK" (as I wet myself).

Honestly, I'm really pleased that they handled everything well in the end. In addition to losing faith in my machine, I was really about to walk out on Apple, which would have been bad, because I love the machines and the OS so much.

A properly repaired machine would have been fine - but this really puts me back in the game as an Apple fan, which, in the end, is way more to their advantage.

I think that is fantastic! It's always bugged me to hell when my machines have ever went down plus I'd freak out even more if I was permantly stuck on Windows.

It's great how its turned out for you, even though with all that stress.
