I'm confused - When is this stuff being released?

OK the App Store is clearly available, however as weve seen, you have to take an interesting method to get there. Also, downloading these things is nice, but useless til I have the 2.0 software on my Touch. Is the firmware coming out at 9pm PT today, or 8 tomorrow to coincide with the iPhone launch. This is all very confusing with all the rumors.

Nobody knows for sure but most likely sometime today since the firmware has been found on Apples servers and the AppStore is out.

I'm hoping the rumors are correct, because then the release is less than a half hour away :)

No it's not, I clicked the "Check for update" button on my iPod Touch's main screen on iTunes, and it says that the 1.1.4 software I have is the most recent.

same here, I can't find anywhere to download (I have an iPod Touch)

It's on the Apple site. Not in iTunes. You can update to it by Option-clicking Restore.

Remember though it is AYOR at the moment…

Read some of the threads and have a look where some people are running into problems.

Otherwise you might just get this message from Apple: ;)

You can use that method for iPod Touch too?
  10. macrumors 6502a

    No thats the thing.

What does this mean? Yes, you can. There's only one Software 2.0.

    Direct from the MacRumors homepage:

iPhone 2.0 Firmware (5A347) Available Early
Note: Can not be used for iPod touch.

He is referring to the method of getting the 2.0 from the apple server by downloading it from the link.

Apparently that method only works on iPhones.

I read somewhere that someone's Touch was bricked using that method.
... probably because Touch users have to pay $9.99 and can't use that method.
