The volume of flash that Apple has locked up could only lead to speculation that they have uses for it other than the iPod. Their growth has been nothing short of spectacular but the volume they bought can't only be for the iPod.
 
It really depends on how it is implemented isn't it?

I did hear something about how Intel has a way to do it for next generation of PCs. I suppose if you save the contents of your system memory onto flash and load it back from there the next time it might be quite fast.
