Thanks, yea, I'm updating the Air to 26.1 Beta 1 and keeping the 17 Pro on 26.0.1 to see if I notice any differences. Hoping the install process wipes out any stuck running processes that may be causing these issues, perhaps.
You might as well wait for beta 2 that will very likely drop in 2 and a half hours

Man, battery is bad for me. Never really have any battery issues on betas or releases but this one is tanked. I was getting 8-10 hrs but now 4-5. The new iOS26 battery stats aren't very helpful and don't really show anything different other than no battery time. Hopefully B2 soon and it will sort things out. Also just did an ISPW update so will see if that helps anything.

Will the home screen background switch to the dark version of the iOS 26 wallpaper automatically alongside its lockscreen companion? Does not work in 26 final.

Rendering issues here and there

With all the issues, was 26.0.1 pulled from any additional downloads?

I have an iPhone 17 Pro / iOS 26.1 and was never pushed the Software Update for 26.0.1.
Probably for the best with all the posts I've seen here. My device is experiencing the CarPlay issues widely reported.

Also, I noticed my Beta profile was removed or it didn't transfer on the new 17 Pro phone setup. I attempted to download today but it will not save the Beta profile under VPN & Device Management after multiple attempts. Earlier this morning, the Beta site was down for repair/updates. 🤷‍♂️ 💩Show!

Also they don’t use beta profiles anymore. Just use the switches in the software update section and it will offer you whatever is available for your chosen channel.

No help from above. Went back to 26.0 and so far it’s a world of difference. Also it’s NOT as glassy as 26.1 was so they did make changes to that on 26.1. Especially in control center. I do like the more glassy appearance in 26.1 tho. Scared to even attempt 26.0.1 for now. Plus gonna see how this goes for a day or two as I was getting 8-10 hrs use on battery previously.

Did anybody else notice that photos metadata taken with the iPhone 16 series now display as “Main Camera” like previous iPhones instead of “Fusion Camera” like it did when the 16 series launched? Retroactive as well.

Ex from back when it showed Fusion:

Not just the iPhone 16.

Also, I noticed my partner's iPhone 15 PM went from having a 6.86mm lens to a 6.765mm lens by magic some time in iOS17. Of course, that's a small difference, but how can one trust Apple's lens and sensor sizes if they sneak out retrospective corrections.

I think it's because Apple markets the iPhone 17 pros having 3 Fusion cameras?
According to that logic the 16 pro has 2 Fusion cameras too?
The Fusion ultra wide taking x0.5 and Macro
The Fusion main taking x1, x1.2, x1.5, x2

Then it's better to label the cameras by their actual purpose?

Slightly off topic, but how long have we been able to use the Shazaam app on the Apple Watch and then directly add a track to your library or a playlist?

I stumbled on this yesterday and it made me smile just a little 🤗

A lot of people complaining about this sort of thing like to complain. They want form over function..

I say let Apple fix the functional issues first and then come back and clean up the “how does it look” issues..

That’s a very unfair comment IMO. He was highlighting further evidence of Apples declining lack of care and attention. He is not asking for form over function, he is simply asking for that switch to look like all of the others. And quite right, so he should and so it should.

Wow. Sorry, but this is about way more than forum members with a need to complain.

Apple comes out every June with all of the hype they can muster to sell us on the newest, latest iteration of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, etc. Then, the beta releases start. People install, and report back to the mothership via the Feedback app - that's how it's designed to work. The theory is that Apple will take those reports and investigate and take the necessary steps to resolve the reported issues.

As we have seen throughout the history of the beta release process, some issues are major, show-stopper variety issues and others are simply cosmetic issues that are nits in the grand scheme. However, when even the most basic cosmetic issues persist through out the beta cycle, and carry over into subsequent general releases and future beta cycles, it tells the masses that Apple can't be bothered to fix them.

Such is the case of things like issues with the glassy effect on a single off/on switch. However, it demonstrated one of three things:
  • Apple can't be bothered with minor inconsistencies within their shiny new interface
  • Apple just doesn't care
  • Apple's programers are lazy and/or incompetent

I never understood this marketing anyways because the 15 Pro also did this but didn’t get branded as having a fusion camera. Still odd that they retroactively changed it.

I guess I missed this but now we can agin take screenshots by the diagonal swipes from the right side bottom of the screen on an ipad.
