Anyone else going to check out Polaris Mall on launch day? I think I'll be heading there around 2 or 3, taking a half-day off work :)

I will be there around 12pm or maybe Easton. I want to make sure I can get one early

I haven't done one before. Do the lines get bad around Columbus? You think getting there by 2 or 3 will be ok?

This is the first major product launch for Polaris apple store. Wasn't open for iphone4 or iPad. Not too many people know about this store so you should be ok getting there as late as 4

One more thing to note. Since it's on a Friday schools are still in session. Can't see too many students being able to line up early like the iphone4 during summer.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll probably head out of work around noonish, get lunch, then try to get to Polaris at 3.

Just got back from the store and they told me they will be open until 3pm for regular sales. At 3pm they will close until 5pm. Polaris Security is not letting anyone line up before 445pm for the IPAD 2. If you line up outside Apple they will escort you out of the mall for the night. This came from Polaris Security.

Thanks again! Wow, thats crazy. Guess I'll head up there around 330 or 4. What do they expect people to do, rush to the line at 445? Or do you think it just wont be that bad?

A friend of mine works security at Polaris. They are being a lot more stricter with security since the Easton shooting. They know that apple will be closed at 3 and don't want anyone camping out or "loitering". If they see anyone hanging out in front of the apple store they will escort you out for the rest of the day. No questions asked. They will have multiple security guards in front of the apple store to prevent people from lining up. We are all in the same boat.

I find that hard to believe. At Easton they set up queue lines for big release days out side of the Apple store... I can't believe Polaris wouldn't do the same and risk sending everyone over to the Easton Apple store to wait.

The difference between Easton and Polaris is Easton is outdoor. Polaris is indoors. You also don't know the changes that Easton will be doing as well. Also for iPhone4 launch security at Easton did not allow a line until 5am.

With there now being two Apple stores in a somewhat close radius, I can't see it being horrible. I'll probably just get there around 330ish or 4 and worst case walk around for an hour.

Good point. It just sucks we all have to line up vs doing online ordering. There is also a Bestbuy Att and verizon across the street from polaris. I will just get there at 5.

So if we are going to line up, it will have to be at Easton rather than Polaris? I just don't like that idea of everyone rushing to line up right before they go on sale.

Sounds like Easton will be the place to line up. When iPhone 4 released security wouldn't let anyone line up at Easton

Guess I'll just head to Polaris around 4ish. If there's a line, then there's a line. I can't see it being so bad I wouldn't get one. Worst case, I'd have to head to BB or something if that fails.

Btw what happens when we are waiting in line if we need to use the bathroom? Hopefully we can save each others spots.

I've been at Easton for every iPhone launch as well as the iPad launch and holding a spot has never been a problem. :)

I stopped by the Apple store today and asked about Friday. I was told that they don't know about the line situation and probably won't until Thursday. They have not been told that mall security will not allow people to line up and in fact the mall owners were so good at the Verizon iPhone launch that they opened the mall at 10pm the night before to allow people to line up. So they expect that a line will be allowed on Friday, just not sure what time and other details.

Just an FYI

Thanks for the info! Maybe Thursday we can get more concrete news. I'll be leaving work at noon, so I'd like to know if I need to head there around 2 or if 4ish is ok.

I dont think Apple will be able to control what security allows and doesnt allow. Either way I hope you are right. Anyone taking the day off work or anyone not going to school to line up? With two apple stores in a 10 mile radius, several bestbuys, Verizon and ATT Stores, and Walmarts I dont think we will have a tough time getting one Fri.

Glimcher will want to keep Apple happy, it's a big coup to have an Apple store in your mall and I'm sure they will work with Apple. We'll have to see how it pans out. I hope you're right about not having any trouble getting one because I'm ready! Haha
