Used mostly with games, surfing, watching videos on you tube. 8 hours of music playing at night with screen off through spotify. Screen brightness at 40%
Backlight level is the biggest factor in battery life - try to keep it at 50% at most. I tend to run between 40-50% most of the time and it's plenty bright enough but then I've not been trying to use it in direct sunlight really.
GPS is another battery killer (if you have a cellular model) so make sure it's not being used unintentionally by disabling stuff in Location Services. One thing to watch out for is the Traffic setting - regardless of whether you use maps of any kind, this will periodically use the GPS to send data to Apple's crowd-sourced traffic system for those that do use it. Personally I have no interest in my battery or data being used for this so turned it off.
I took this last night before I went to bed. I think it's pretty good. It actually just dropped from 70% to 69% about 5 seconds before I took this screenshot.
I charged this thing twice since I bought it. First was to top it off out of the box from about 85%, then at 20% 3 days later. Now 4 days later with 13hrs of use with 34%. Incredible.
I got mine Thursday morning, charged it to 100% once. I have auto brightness on. Wifi on. Used it for safari, little gaming, netflix and downloading apps.
Ok, so I have brightness set at max, volume max, and have been playing XCOM with about 8 Bluetooth perhipherals all connected, and I'm ONLY getting 9.75 hours of use!?!?!
WTH Apple? You advertise 10 hours and I'm getting nowhere NEAR that!
At 20% and only 7 hours, 50 minutes. That's not even 10 hours and considering everyone else seems to be getting 12+ hours, I think this one is no good.
That's about what I get and since Apple says "up to 10 hours" I think it is OK. About all I do is web surf and e-mail and it is at about 60% brightness.
