My son has locked his ipad up

when you turn it on, the following message appears

iPad is disabled connect to itunes

The problem is that he has never sync up his iPad with itunes.

He has since told me that he did a password change, can't remember the new password and that why it has locked up.

When i try and connect it to Itunes, i get the following message

Itunes cannot connect to the ipad "ipad" because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter the passcode on the ipad before it can be used with itunes. I can enter anything onto the IPAD as it is locked!

Any help please?

You should be able to reset your iPad to factory settings but will lose whatever is on it. Hopefully the iPad was backed up to iCloud so it can be synced when you can access it. Things purchased on iTunes should reload when you can log into your iTunes account.

I suggest you make a Genuis bar appointment at your nearest Apple store and they will walk you through it.
