Hello all!

So, had to get my wife a new phone. My daughter dropped my wife's phone and instead of using the insurance to get a new phone we are upgrading since it's her upgrade time.

Here's the problem...

My wife's broken phone is inaccessible. The screen is no longer usable - we can see lines on it but it doesn't receive/take input.

I'm trying to figure out the best route to successfully and cleanly move from her broken phone to a new one.

I haven't tried to sync and backup with iTunes yet because I think you have to unlock the phone to initiate a backup/sync, correct?

How would you go about handling this situation?

TIA!

So...

Last night I decided to see if I could back it up before the new phone arrived.

I couldn't see anything on the screen so I guessed where the numbers would be and entered my wife's passcode and it unlocked so I could back it up on iTunes!
