So I pre ordered my iPhone 6+ 64gb space grey thru apple and I decided to pick it up in store on the 19th.

Fast forward to the the 19th I planned on going to apple before work then decided not to, so I could avoid the early morning chaos.

So I get thru with work, on my way to Apple I double parked (not the smartest idea) and I walk into apple and they direct me to the pick up line.

I waited a few mins before some one helped me. She scanned my order # to get my iPhone. Now she was probably gone for anywhere 15-20 mins. Now after 10 mins I'm like what could be taking so long? After 15 mins i start to worry. After 20 mins I start to worry about my car being double parked. Finally she comes back and says " its a mess back there, I need your order # again " I give it to her and then at that time I'm convinced there's a problem.

So I go to the apple specialist in the front and tell him I need to check on my car, he asked what kind of car I tell him and he replies back with "that's you, there about to tow it" lesson learned don't double park, and thankfully it wasn't towed.

As I walk back into Apple the specialist greets me and says " i got bad news, we don't have your phone here " I tell her, that's not acceptable and that I would like to speak to a manager.

As she gets the manager I try to be calm and not rip him a new one because im pretty sure they gave my phone away to some one else.

Regardless he comes over apologizes and says " there was a glitch in the system that only affected you but what I can do for you is offer you a 128gb for the price of the 64gb". I'm like "sure that sounds like a great compromise, my only issue is how long until you get it in? He says "prob a few days" I said as oppose to a few weeks? He said he doubts that.

Fast forward to the 21st Sunday evening, i get a call from the manager at Apple. He apologized again and said if you don't wanna wait I can get you a 6 in the meantime and when your phone comes in we can swap it. I told him that sounds like to much work and rather wait a few more days.

A few more days passed by I get another call from Apple on the 24th, this time it was a female manager she said "I got some good news and bad news, the bad news is we don't have your 128 iPhone 6+ in space grey the good news is we have it in silver and gold. Once again I passed and said I'll wait a few more days.

So 5 days passes by and I haven't heard from Apple and i start getting frustrated that how could they possibly not get one 128+ in space grey in over a week.

So I call Apple myself and spoke to the initial manager that dealt with me and vented. He understood and offered me a 6 in the meantime until the space grey comes in, I declined yet again.

So today I realized that my at&t offer for the iPhone 4s expires in a few days for the $200 credit.

I called Apple to let them know that, however the manager that I've been dealing with was on lunch so I left my name and phone number having him to call me.

An hour and a half passes by and I get a "unknown call" and it's Apple however it's not the manager that I've been talking to its another manager and he says " we still don't have the iPhone you want, but we do have it in silver and gold, now I know you didn't want it in either of those colors but I want to make this right so you can choose either color and apple will cover it.

I couldn't believe it and asked him to repeat what he just said, he tells me " yes for FREE, apple will cover the charge"

Needless to say I was there at the store in 30 mins.

Good things come to those who wait.

Big thanks to Apple and the managers for the comped iphone.

Although it was frustrating, they stayed in contact with me thru out the process and ultimately went above and beyond to make there customers happy.

Happy indeed.
Thanks for listening.

Yeah. Apple gives these away free all the time for customers that actually complain.
Yeah right. I didn't read it and don't believe the title anyway.

I read the whole thing.

You are an incredibly lucky individual. Both on the parking and the phone. You should go out and buy a lottery ticket.

why not? My iPod touch 5g was given to me by Apple after I kept complaining. Apple wants to keep customers, so they would rather take a few hundred dollar loss (much less to them) and keep that customer wanting and buying more in the future.

That's different. They seem to give out iPods like crazy. They offered my father an iPod nano (7th Gen) To replace a sliently recalled Apple TV 3rd Gen that he had already paid retail to replace. Meanwhile with my problematic iPhone 5 I had to pay to replace it with a 5s. To be fair, the store did make me a deal to replace it with a 5s at the subsidized cost without a contract if I traded in my 5 through their program. I asked why it couldn't be a straight swap, to which the manager replied "Apple doesn't allow us to discount iPhones at all. I'm only discounting this out of the stores pocket because of the fact on of my Geniuses scratched your phone". (The Genius did admit to sliding my phone around on the table while looking at after asking me to take the case off.)

It's possible the policy has changed, and if that's the case and the OP is truthful, congrats! I'm more then eestatic for you! Welcome to the Plus club!

Oh the essence of world entitlements. They want their cake free and they want to choose the flavor of the icing. :D

Free...it could be pink. I would make due.

Anyway, all three colors are nice, so Congrats OP! Thats super awesome!

Well, congrats! But I'm not totally sure what happened to merit a free phone to be honest. There are dozens of people who ordered on launch day who still have no phones, much less free ones. Not that I would have said no, of course!

I think the difference is that his was "available for pickup" and when he went to pick it up it was not there.
