Hi from Athens, Greece!
I'd like to buy a LaCinema Classic Multimedia Player 500GB for my G4 400MHz (sawtooth).
http://www.lacie.com/intl/products/product.htm?pid=11075

In LaCie website says that a system requirement for LaCinema is a 500MHz processor or greater...
Do you believe that it will work in my 400Mhz PowerPC?

Thank you very much! ...and very glad to meet you! Have a nice weekend!:)

It says it upscales media to 1080p, which I suspect the 400 MHz G4 is not fast enough for. Also it uses a USB 2.0 interface which wasn't built into the Sawtooth. You'd have to add a USB 2.0 PCI card. I know it says USB 1.1 compatible, but transferring data on USB 1.1 is painfully slow.

I would avoid La Cinema altogether. I've got the 320GB rugged version running on an iMac and it keeps failing to write beyond 128GB, but is fine when going beyond this on Windows XP.

The drive also takes ages to appear on the desktop over USB 2.0. Once copied though, the files plays back fine on the iMac.

Tried formatting, etc, to no avail.:(
