Just figured this out, so if you know already please don't judge me.

When you open a YouTube video, double tap the home button for the multitasking, open another app, then swipe to the music controls and press play.

    I'm excited. :D

Is this some kind of loop hole or an actual feature? This would seem pretty useful. :)

That's actually pretty awesome. I'm using an OG Motorola Droid and this is one app that Android doesn't multitask. Sometimes I'll be listening to a YouTube vid and press the home key thinking it'll keep playing just like music/pandora/etc. would.

This must be new, post 4.1 at least.

The YouTube app previously would not run in the background. Before, you had to go to youtube.com in Safari to do this.

This has been available for a while now.

I have bluetooth audio in my car, and wanted to play music from YouTube but when you lock the phone, it cuts the audio.

So just double tap the home button after starting to play the video, press play and it will continue while locked :)
