Hello, dear MacRumors-Forum-User.

icon256.png

Yoink, a drag and drop helper app for OS X, has been released in version 3 today.

The app simplifies drag and drop between windows, apps, spaces and fullscreen apps.

When you start dragging a file in Finder or content from an application, Yoink fades in a tiny window at the edge of your screen so you can drag to it.
This frees up your mouse so you can comfortably navigate to the destination of the drop and resume the drag from Yoink's window.

Yoink 3 comes in a fresh, new look that fits in perfectly with OS X Yosemite and brings many improvements, fixes and new features.

For a short time, you can purchase Yoink 60% off for just $1.99 (after that, the price will revert to $4.99)

I found what I believe to be a couple bugs....one more severe than the other.

1. I run a dual monitor setup. To the left is monitor (2) and to my right is monitor (1) - the one with Menu bar and Dock (and where I do most of my work). Previously when dragging files, the Yoink "window" would show up on the left edge of monitor (1) where it was perfect since that's where I usually use the finder and drag files around. However, with the latest version, when I'm dragging something on monitor (1), the Yoink "window" now appears at the far left edge of monitor (2) and that's not convenient at all to have to drag files all the way across two monitors to a temporary holding area. I don't see any way in the preferences to alter that behavior.

2. Minor item - in the Preferences/Behavior tab "Automatically show when" - the "n" is cut off by the dropdown box so it looks like "Automatically show wher"

Great software - hopefully you can fix these rather easily.

Thank you for the heads up. That's definitely a bug.
In previous versions of Yoink, there was an option for where Yoink's window should show - on the screen of the drag or on the main screen. In Yoink 3, I've removed that option and chose to always show it on the screen where the drag was initiated. So it should show up on monitor (1) for you, but since it doesn't that's a bug. You're on OS X 10.9 or earlier?

I'll fix this with one of the next udpates - thank you.

Maybe you can hold off on number 1) above.....no matter what I try today, the Yoink window is appearing on the left side of the monitor my mouse is in....I haven't rebooted or anything, but now it seems to be working as designed!

Thank you for keeping me posted about this. Interesting that the issue has now vanished. I'll keep looking into it.

Hope you're enjoying Yoink #

Yoink is awesome. The only thing that irks me about it is that the default keyboard shortcut for show/hide interferes with the Refresh function in Eclipse... but this is easily solved in Yoink's preferences. :)

Hi!

Today I released Yoink v3.2.1 - a maintenance and bugfix update.

Yoink simplifies and improves drag and drop on your Mac.
By providing a temporary place for your file drags and app-content, Yoink frees up your mouse, letting you navigate more comfortably to the destination of your files.

Version 3.2.1 includes improvements for QuickLook (websites and emails can now be QuickLook'ed, for example) and the handling of alias files, minor refinements and several bug fixes.

Yoink Website (with a free, 15-day trial)
Yoink on the Mac App Store: ($6.99)

Thank you and enjoy :)
