Create a Virtual Machine?.....why bother going through the hassle. I thought why not just buy a used 2009 Mac for cheap and install Snow Leopard directly on it. That’s exactly what I did but installation hit a snag. The iMac I bought did not come with a 10.6.1 install disc and the retail 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD I got from Apple was not going to boot the iMac. Luckily in 2012, I made a non machine specific disk image of Mac OS 10.6.8 that I installed on an external drive. With the help of SuperDuper, Mac OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard is now installed and running on the following hardware: 27” iMac (11,1) Late 2009, 2.66ghz Intel Core i5 Nehalem processor, 8GB DDR3 memory, ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics card, Slot-loading DVD Superdrive, 4 USB 2.0 ports, and 1 FireWire 800 port. I’m having fun using old favorite PowerPC/Intel apps and programs I haven’t used in years since these apps and programs were abandoned and never updated after 10.7 Lion.
