Hi.

So I have an MP 3/1 and I have 24gb of ram. My knowledgable PC friend tells me that 24 is a mess. Is this true?

Riser A 4,4,2,2 Riser B. 4,4,2,2. ( Of course if it was cheaper I would have all 4gb chips )

I always thought that as long as they were matched pairs that different sizes were ok?

The 2006-7 were "mess" mixing and using 6 DIMMs, and higher latency with more than two on each Riser... but Barefeats tested the 2008 and found you are simply best to fill all DIMMs, and it did not matter if they were (1's 2's 4's) as long as the pair was properly installed. A few hardy souls have even managed to snag some 16GB FBDIMMs and have them working in 3,1 as well.
