Hello all, I need someone with experience rather than speculation here...

My friend's company bought a loads of macs and mac related stuff in a big deal of some sort, and they are selling to their employees the stuff they don't want (for a tax difference or something?).
Well he's a PC guy, but he know's I'm into Mac, and said they have a brand new, unopened .mac box.

My question is will this .mac box allow me to register with my own details (& choose my own email address), or by buying it did the company have their own details set into it? Has anyone bought a .mac box from the Apple store? What did you have to do with it to set-up your account?

Cheers for the help,
Matt

You should be alright. Put in the disk and pick a name. There shouldn't be anything about the company encoded on the disk.

All you really need is the activation key off the disk anyway.

yes you can use it. all the .mac box is a 99 dollar box with a piece of paper inside. take the piece of paper and go to www.mac.com. enter your activation code, pick your name and your set for 1 year. but make sure you pick a name you like, because you cant change it. that wasa mistake i made.
