I gave up 1 pint of blood yesterday. I was able to eat a big meal since it takes 650 calories to replace it.

It was my 16th donation.

That is such an interesting fact. I had no idea about the calorie loss. If only I could donate everyday!

My donation consist of the standard Danish size: 460ml blood.

I've been a faithful donor for years. However, having my own medical issued this year that prevent me from donating. Thanks to all of you (particularly first time donors) who are stepping up. :)

Done. Also registered for bone marrow donation so they took a further sample for inclusion on the register.

Gave my pint today! Finally could start back after getting a tattoo over a year ago.

I signed up for the bone marrow donor registry. I have donated blood before (and love to) but the drives are few and often far away from my home, so it doesn't happen as often as I would like it to.

Donating platelets this week, and 30 May

I'll be donating my 230 and 231 platelet donations at Canadian Blood Services this month towards the MacRumors drive. Pictures to follow.:D

A photo after my blood donation. It's a "drop in the bucket" compared to the overall need for blood, but I donate regularly to do my part.

Excellent news! Was it quite easy to sign up?

That's absolutely amazing. How many years have you been donating for? You can donate every 2 weeks with platelets, right? Can you donate blood when you donate platelets?

How many pints of blood have you donated now, Doctor Q? I think my next donation will be my 10th of 11th.

I just finished donating 3 units of platelets, 1 hour and 40 minutes. No problems other than the uncomfortable side effects of trying to hydrate shortly before the appointment. Twenty minutes into I knew I should have hit the head before getting tethered to the machine. Rookie mistake.

230th donation today

Just completed my 230th donation today at Canadian Blood Services HQ on College Street in Toronto. It was a double-unit platelet donation on a Trima plateletpheresis machine. I can do one more donation before the end of the month (30 May). Keep on giving folks, the need is great and unremitting.
