Hello -

I'm looking to purchase my first mac (likely a 12" pb) just as soon as they're updated. I have a question though - as a graduate student with some occasionally severe tendenitis , I would like to be able to rely on voice recognition software and a microphone when necessary - any recommendations would be much appreciated. :)

Thanks,
iRachel

The PB's have a microphone built in and..
Mac OS X has pretty good voice recognition built in too.
Try reading this fpr more specific information.
Hope that helps :)

If you want an app to do speech to text (ie dictaton) then you could look at iListen by MacSpeech.

It's not perfect and will take you a while to train it to your speech patterns, but it's just about the best (and only, given that IBM's ViaVoice is no longer supported) one available for Macs
