Muslim Cleric Arrested For Ties With Terrorism

This is a sticky one. How do you deal with this when you have a 'holy man' as a force that promotes terrorism? It puts a bad name on all Muslims and overrides the whole situation with emotions that just cause to escalate the problem.

Sorry, but the idea that Muslim Clerics are exclusively people of god and religion and not promoters of terrorism is just as gone as like the idea of Catholic priests being celebit.

Yes, it is a sticky situation because there are a lot of clerics that are good people, but, when you have an ideology such as Islamism being pushed by religious leaders, there is no way to separate the two. It is unfortunate, but it is the natural consequence of religious leaders leading the call for a Jihad.

Well, its just like anyone who uses their religion to push their own ideas. Its happened all through the course of human history, and there is no reason to believe it will stop now.

But the bigger issue here is the propaganda and unrest that will follow because of the arrest. The demostrations so far have been mild, so the reporting goes, but if he is deported or convicted, things will turn for the worse.

Oh well. Demonstrations are fine, but violence is not. If arresting and deporting him brings the nutjobs out of the woodwork, fine, let them come out. Let them do something stupid, there's plenty of room in jail or on the plane out of the country.

So far all terrorists have been muslim. The muslim community has not come forward to deny their actions as wrong & against their religion. We need to deport all non citizen muslims!

You see, that's not right - we've had our own terrorists, Oklahoma, the uni-bomber, anti-abortion activist, and try and go tell that to Northern Ireland or the IRA!

The problem is that a whole group is being blamed for the actions of a few individiuals (a minority). Saying all Muslims are evil and should be deported is like saying all Christians are good people. Its just not right.

There needs to be more education, for one, and people shouldn't be able to hide behind a bible or q'oran or any religious belief to justify their actions. People need to open up their minds, on both sides.
