just ordered the new superdrive pb with 128 video card, airport extreme base station, iSight, extra battery, and the backpack. Ouch. Ow ow ow ow ow. That was a lot of money. But I've been wanting one forever, and it will help with school so much. Sigh, I hope I'm not an idiot.

Wow, you are getting one heck of a machine. You got so many goodies with it too! I hope you enjoy it for years to come. I've been very tempted by a powerbook, but I think I'll just wait for powermacs. The powerbooks, IMO, have more of a cool factor than a G5. Did u get the 15"?

Yes, it's the 1.5, 15". Thanks for all the kind words, after dropping that much money, it's very appreciated :D. I really think it will keep me happy, it has everything I want in it, I can't wait for it to come.

As for the grand total, it was $3,121. That's with the student discount, tax, etc, everything in there. It's also with a $21 shipping. Yes, I know I could get it shipped for free, but when I'm already spending that much money, $21 more to get it here sooner is fine by me.

question

One quick question maybe you guys can help me with about my new gear. Before she left to study abroad in Austria, I convinced my girlfriend to switch to mac, so she has iChat AV and all that other good stuff that came with the last powerbook. She does not, however, have an iSight. Can I use my iSight so she gets the picture of me, while she uses the audio so I can hear her, even though there's no picture?
Thanks

congrats dude. That's a lot of money, but I'm sure you'll love it for a long time. You've got a whole lot of cool stuff there.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm down 2 grand plus today and I don't get a darn thing out of it that. (Well, I sort of do. I get a new transmission... but until my car died at a red light yesterday, I had a well-running car, and that's all I'm going to have after this $2,000+) :(

Yah, command click on her in your buddy list and select one way video chat. BTW only you can invite her, she can't invite herself. Hope that helps.

Ouch, that really hurts man, sorry. Yeah, cars cost tons to repair. I should really look into taking classes on how to do it myself whenever the problems are small enough that I could do that.

Thank you, that'll be nice when it comes. Saves us some money on the phone, too :).

Thanks, I appreciate it. I'd like to be able to repair the small stuff too, but in this case there's really no way... even the garage it's at now has to send it off to a specialist... rebuilding a transmission is quite a project!

Anyway, enjoy the goodies! Tell your gf to get an isight too, or surprise her with one as a gift! And btw, I bought a 12" PB at the start of this school year and was thinking the same thing you are now ("am I an idiot since I already have a computer that works"), but I haven't regretted it for a minute. This thing is amazing; I can only imagine how cool the rev. Cs are gonna be to own. :)
