need help with powerpoint

Everytime I open a presentation a little message appears saying

Graphics filter:

Converting: metafile

it takes forever to open the document and if I save the changes, then the same presentation is not fully viewable on a PC.

Any advice as to fix this or avoid it??

Powerpoint for mac is trying to convert an image (or chart) created in powerpoint for windows. I'm assuming the powerpoint file was originally created on a windows machine. It needs to translate the images in order to view at all on the mac, so I'm not sure you want to fix or avoid it. Others may have a more elegant solution.
