So I don't butcher the explanation of my issue, they say a picture is worth a thousand words:

The USB C to USB A / HDMI adapter works fine. However, when I plug a USB A hub into that, it does not work with anything. Not enough power? My 2010 MBP powered the hub no issue (obviously didn't need the adapter). Is there any way to getting the hub to work with my 2018 MBP or am I stuck buying a USB C to USB A hub to cut out the white adapter in the picture?
