A big "NO" here! I mean who wears watches anymore. I haven't in decades. Don't plan to start either.
I am curious tho, as to how long this will last? Latest Fad?? I may be wrong here but I can't see a whole lot of people buying this, especially when you need an iPhone for it to work.
Well, unless it eventually becomes a stand alone piece, meaning no iPhone required. ;)

People don't wear watches because their phone tells time just fine. And since traditional watches only tell time, sure, why wear one?

BUT, telling time is the most incidentally minor function of the Apple Watch. It's hard to even call it a watch at all, but it's less dorky-sounding than Wrist-Computer. People don't wear watches, true, but this isn't really watch, despite the name.

I wear a watch because my iPhone 6 looks foolish strapped to my wrist. Seriously, there are many times during the day when the iPhone isn't next to me and I need to know the time. Plus it's a Casio Protrek and I like it.

There are a few critical things that the apple watch can't match my G-shock and a phone won't make any difference in terms of what my watch does.
I can take my watch into a shower or a pool and it is solar powered...
I simply don't see the need for an apple watch. Samsung and Sony have been there and done it...

I too am very happy with my very rugged Casino G-Shock.

Solar powered, syncs nightly with Atomic time. It's an essential component of my Triathlon / Cycling / Kayaking - Super Active Lifestyle. A watch proven to be about the only type that'll take the punishment while remaining very reliable.

It's a no worries sports watch.

Definitely buy it, definitely not take it out of the box, definitely auction it off in 30 years, definitely retire early.

I laughed at Samsung for coming out with a watch that only worked with some of their phones and I'm doing the same for Apple too.

Apple watch is available for iPhone 5 and above. That seems to be most rather than "some" of their phones. 4 and 4s are rather rare now. When the galaxy gear came out, it only worked with one phone.

My version is a little different.
It has a stainless steel band which makes it look more elegant but still does everything just like yours.
With this, I can go active lifestyle and still wear the same watch to go to work/professional gathering/wedding/etc.

Your plan is a good one.

The primary benefit of the G-Shock for me is it's incredible impact & scratch resistance as well as being waterproof, not just water-resistant, for the Kayaking and other water sports I do.

It will interesting to see how Apple watches do after a few years of use. I'm sure they'll be one of the better smart watches. It all depends on the public acceptance of the category.

Has someone compiled past surveys were people "definitively" would buy something that has not been released?

I used to keep track of such surveys, checking before and after.

People are always quicker to predict they'd get something, than to actually do it.

Most of the time, only about 1/5 to 1/3 of people actually follow through.

However, there's always an exception to prove the rule.

I think a fair number of people will buy one, but then a lot of those will fail to charge it every night and lose interest.

Each person will need to find their own killer app on the Watch, to keep their interest high enough to put enough effort into keeping it going. This goes for any smartwatch, btw.

I think that's why Apple put everything and the kitchen sink into it, from notifications to Apple Pay to cute drawings and heartbeats. Throw enough against the wall, and something will stick for everyone.

was looking to get an ipad, iwatch and imac this year,

ipad is on hold, as my iphone 6plus has pretty much replaced my need for tablets.

Imac is on hold, as i have x2 MBPs, and decided to await the skylake rendition, whether this will be late 2015/2016, i think it will be worth the wait.

Iwatch, might very well be my next apple hardware purchase.

My classmate's G-shock survived a 34 story fall from his window with minor scratches on the body only and completely functional. (He said he can't say for sure if it were him that fell off...)
That may sound little extreme, but I doubt the apple watch will even survive a 3 feet drop without any scratches to the screen. (Note, that is about a normal desk height drop)

(BTW, mine is here: http://www.gshock.com/watches/Classic/MTGM900DA-8)

The shock resistance of G's is just incredible.

I like yours, it's stylish and has the feature set I prefer, nice choice! :)

I am - "Yes, definitely" when it comes to buying it.

And also "No. probably not" in regards to keeping it.

Return period. :)

Dont think I will want the first generation - but testing it out seems to be the best way to find out.
