Hi,

I am new to this forum and am hoping to get some good advise and help.

Long story short. My duaghter gave me an ibook and gave a friend of her's the airport card. Now I want to put one back in the compuer and find that they are no longer made thus the price the ones I can find is OUTRAGEOUS.

Questions:

How do I make sure sure I get the right airport card for my ibook?

Is there a "non apple" card that will work in the same slot w/o costing me a load of $$$?

Anyone know of a airport card source that won't charge me $169.00 + dollars for a new card?

Anyone's help would be appreciated.

Well, you have to determine which revision your iBook is to decide what kind of airport card it will take.

If it's colored, it will only take the original Airport cards.

If it's white, but only says "iBook" below the screen, then it will only take one of the old Airport cards.

If it's white, and says "iBook G4" below the screen, then it will take the newest model of Airport cards (Airport Extreme), which you can get new from Apple, or for slightly less on eBay.

The older Airport cards can be found on eBay, and vary a lot in price range.
