Does that mean it is no longer possible to download and use Lion? While my late 2008 non-aluminum MacBook is supported by Lion, it is not supported by Mountain Lion.

So Apple loses another customer. This will probably be my last Apple computer then.

In fairness, it's not really Apples fault that you chose to wait well over a year to update.
Besides, Do you need to update? Assuming you are still on 10.6, then you are missing very little and are still using a very good, if not the best version of OS X to date (In my opinion ;) ). I only moved on to 10.7 for MobileMe/iCloud reasons. Not for the extra bloat & GUI tat which chomps on more resources, and can makes itself apparent on older Macs.
