Has anyone else also had this problem, and know how to deal with it?

same here, I've got a lot of beachballs after upgrading to the latest PB. System hangs a lot, space gesture not working.

When I upgraded to PB4 everything went extremely slow and lots of beachballs, but it was due to spotlight re-indexing. I think there has been some work done on spotlight. However I'm not suggesting this relates to your experience.

I'm having the same problem. Even after a few reboots, it's still acting up all the time. Sluggish behavior of the OS in general and frequent beachballs lasting for about 30 seconds. Like in the middle of writing this post...

Updated last week so I highly doubt it's spotlight indexing related.

I'm running the activity monitor all the time but it's not really helping much. Is there a better way to diagnostic your system?

I had occasional freezes the first couple of days after beta 4 but all is good now - didn't do anything in particular either

I've had this too - seemed to happen only during a backup which was in "preparing backup" for ages. Backup is complete and no more hangs.

I've also had those gesture issues (for me, it's 4-finger swipe between spaces) which just stop working. A reboot fixes it as does toggling off/on the setting in Sys Prefs, but as that resets it to 3-finger swipe I then need to change it back to 4-finger swipe then go into Accessibility and turn (back) on 3-finger drag. it's a ... drag.

Was better for 20 mins or so, with no stuttering, then a full lockup.

Second followup - since the above issue, everything's been rock solid. No beachballs, no panics.

Ive had spinning beachball for sometime with constant freezes and stalling, i have just disabled auto brightness so will do a restart and see what happens...

Disable "ambient light sensor" and "automatic brightness adjustment". https://forums.developer.apple.com/thread/13922

I tried this but it didn't help.

For me, the suggestion to look at the offending pid was key. pid was 529, `ps` showed that pid belonged to "Software Update" o_O

So I opened up the App Store and updated El Capitan to the latest version. So far since that update, I haven't experienced anymore hanging / freezing. This probably means my problem has been resolved
