Wow, some amazing shots here.

I'm just a beginner, but one of the first shots out of my Rebel xt

You're off to a good start then. Can't fault a well lit, well framed, portrait of a person and their interests. Nice work.

Well I'm still sitting in Greece on holiday, but I have managed to find a internet connection and I have half an hour to myself so I thought I'd post something.

Here is one I took yesterday evening at sunset of a friend of mine.

Pirouetting girl

She was having some fun dancing on her own; I was having some fun with the camera.

50mm, f/2.8, 1/60th of a second, ISO 100, Canon 20D with the 580 EX and a Fong diffuser.

Love that 50mm f/1.8 for this sort of work on that body.

I was playing around with the lighting and took some shots of my face. I like how intense this one looks; it's looks as if I'm sweating, but I'm not. I took tons of shots like this, but this is the only one I liked.

Interesting crop. Did you shoot it that way or was this the one you liked best after playing with it for a while?

Thanks, I shot it that way. Here is one that's a tad more traditional, but I thought it was a little more boring.

You were right. While still a good picture it seems very "senior portrait". The other way seems to emphasize the dress (fashion model) and eyes. Ok, you can't not notice her eyes.

I know I've posted shots from this session already, but I just came across this one, and wanted to share it.

thevessels: great use of shadowing and contrast! The look in the boy's eyes, and his sheer gesture are great!

here is a shot I took of my wife a little while ago. The headdress is a dress top of her mom's. The shot was taken in her washroom because of the nice light from the window.

shot taken with nikon d70s and 50mm f/1.8
