Why put a case on that leaves an edge open and doesn't protect the screen at all?

I love color and I'm finally getting my phone later this week (I ordered it 9/25!). I found a snap on style from Casetegram which allows you to design your own with your instagram photos or uploaded images... very fun. They have different layouts to choose from and you can save your designs in a gallery without actually ordering one. I ordered the one posted above... They are $40.
Then I also got the leather sleeve on Etsy to protect them both, $25. Neither has arrived yet but should also be here this week. I also have a pinterest board with lots more techie accessory eye candy called Techalicious

Yes, got 2 delivered, one clear and one black.
Both rubbish.
They came in plastic cases and the cases were both cracked.
Sharp edges, scratches on both backs.
I emailed them if i could have the one that is on the website (picture), they didn't answer.
How long did it take to receive them?
OMG - Where did they find purple alligators at, to make this case from?
----------
FYI - I got two of them off eBay, with 2 screen protectors, for $5, shipping included, and that's shipped from China.

However, one thing worth pointing out. Another poster in a different thread brought up to me, and was correct. I originally had a white iphone, and the clear TPU case looked great. But, then I exchange the white phone for a black phone, and the same TPU case seemed to take on a yellowish tint, which didn't look nearly as good. Something about how the case reflected light through the case and off of the black phone vs a white phone. I also thought maybe it was the cheap knock off case that was the issue, so I tried one from a local store ($25 Rocketfish clear TPU case from Best Buy), and same result.
Instead, had a Smoke colored "clear-ish" (still somewhat transparent, but not clear) TPU case, so I switched to that, and it has the look of the clear, without the yellowish tint. I highly recommend a smoke colored TPU case (or even a "frost" tinted case) instead of a truely clear TPU case with a black iPhone.
Just my two cents...
Nice desmay clone, could you post the link of it? Thanks.
Ok, lets try this again since this poster doesn't seem to care to post what case it is which makes this thread a bit worthless. Anyone have an idea what this is?
edit: It looks like this one after some amazon searching-

Can anyone confirm? I'd only assume its the black frost one...?
Thanks so much for this! Do you know of a good smoke colored TPU case that you could direct me to? Thanks again!

Cheap no name plastic case for iPhone 5 with a front screen protector purchased at a local Chinese shop. Total price: $17 . The case covers the entire back (hard see through plastic) as well as the sides and front (raised front). All ports are accessible and compatible (I used the lightening to 30-pin adapter with no fitment issues). I couldn't be happier!

Very Nice fit. But the colour is not the same as the website. In real life its is more dark red.
