DC-HSPA supports up to 43 Mb/s (theoretically).
My speed's relatively high at the moment because it's the weekend. On a business day I'd get about half of this:
I don't have a picture to post unfortunately, but I get roughly 2Mbps on COSMOTE 3G. Not too bad for most things.
On a DC-HSPA network, yes, it's possible. However, it's horribly inefficient because HSPA basically uses a larger spectrum slice to deliver the same speeds as a well-planned 2x10 LTE network. One of the many reasons why it looks like TMo will be dropping HSPA 42 in NYC (back to 21) and deploy 2x10 LTE, instead of the current 2x5.
You get different speeds depending if its a weekend or a week day? That's crazy. Is it like this all over in New Zealand? In the UK it don't really matter what day it is but depends on the location the speed can vary.
4G = 3G with a icon change...same network, its DC-HSPA that is giving that great speed as someone before mentioned.
It's faster on the weekend because there are fewer people using the network.
The company that I'm with seemed to underestimate what would happen when it turned 2G off last year; the 3G network suddenly become overcrowded. In small towns I can easily get more than 10 Mb/s on weekdays but here it's slowed to a crawl. The other two networks don't have this speed issue, but unfortunately they don't have coverage at my house either.
i was in Iceland for the past week using Siminn's 3G GSM network. I got consistent 3-5 Mbits down and 3 Mbits up.
Yeah it's what T-mobile markets as 4G in the US.
AT&T doesn't have DC-HSPA+ they only have HSPA+ 21 but they market that as 4G too.
100% CORRECT.
HSPA+ is NOT 4G. HSPA, HSPA+ are all 3G technologies.
Here is a speedtest using a 3G phone, the iPhone 4S.

So what will they call proper 4G when you get it seeing as they're calling 3G 4G
They call it 4G LTE to differentiate between LTE and the fake "4G" that T-Mobile and AT&T call HSPA+ for marketing purposes.
Yep. But all this did was ultimately confuse the average consumer. Should just be 3G, H+, and LTE.
AT&T labels the iPhone 4S as "4G" due to its 14.4 radio. Funny how they think 1mbps is "4G".
