Is there some kind of monthly cap involved in the plan for getting those ludicrous speeds?

Probably not. Plans like that are almost solely for businesses that use tons upon tons upon tons of bandwidth. It's not for one or two guys wanting to download stuff really fast. It's for a large group of people uploading and downloading constantly throughout the day.

Putting a cap on a plan like that would defeat the purpose of having it to begin with.

I made some simple changes to our DNS server a few days ago and also we made some changes to the fiber network at my office and subsequently, and dramatically, increased our speed.

I love fiber!

 I wish I could get a quarter of that. I'm sure before long we'll start seeing more speeds like that within the next few years. Here's my measly speed compared to that .

Yeah, I think so to.

Currently they offer 50 Mb/s download speed plans at my ISP, but they cap at 300 GB, which would be 10 GB per day, which can be easily accomplished even without torrenting just by watching lots of porn and other YouTube videos.

The plan SandboxGeneral's workplace provides allows for up to 16 TB data transfer per day, halved in up and down. That is quite impressive, it would take me almost three days to fill all my HDDs with that. And I wouldn't know where to begin.

Now if mobile internet connections wouldn't be capped at 500 MB or 3 GB in a month.

No there is no cap on our pipe. My office is a POP (point of presence) for the county and I have several 10 gig fiber optic pipes coming into it. It's shared between county services, police departments, villages, cities townships and all the schools.

It's part of an even larger fiber network that is spreading across Michigan.

Here, I made a screen recording of the speed test...

YouTube: video

And here are my thoughts to that.

Uihhhhh.
Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn. Pfui.
Webcam, Webcam, Webcam, Webcam, Webcam, Webcam, Webcam, Webcam, Webcam, Webcam, Webcam, Webcam, Webcam, Webcam, Webcam, Webcam, Webcam, Webcam, done.

One could download the entire Internet as of 2013 with its 1000000000000000000000000 bytes of data in just 302 million years.
It would take me 5 billion years. There would be an entirely new planet with new porn around. Hmm.

Well, at least you know what you want.... But where does MacRumors fit in on your aforementioned priority list? You do spend a lot of time here, so not listing it above, must mean you spend a lot more time there. ;)

It wasn't meant like that.

One of my first thoughts of watching a video of an internet connection speed test benchmark trial conglomerate (the last three words can be given away for adoption), it reminded me, that this must be porn for someone, like space battles are sometimes considered porn for geeks and so on.
Then I thought about all the porn that is wasted with that download speed. No one can watch that much.
And then someone turned on a webcam.

Anyway, MacRumors is just a side hobby, I rarely come here, as you can by my answer in the "How often do you go to the toi,... ahem, MacRumors Forums on a usual day?" thread.

Installed a new SuperHub - not bad, the fastest we can get around here. Ping's a bit slow, retested this morning and it's back at around 11-12ms, which is what it usually is.

Currently rocking with a superb 5.127mb Download and 728k upload.

Still waiting for Fibre to the Cab - I could get Virgin, but there's complications so chances are I won't bother.

Thats not over WiFi is it? I only get 100Mb/s over wifi, and constant disconnections from our 3 Airport Expresses and Smart TV. Hopefully the Airport Extreme arriving tomorrow will sort it out, otherwise its £150 wasted.
