Heya, got my eyes on a 6800 Ultra DDL for my PowerMac7,3 (DP 2GHz) that currently has a Radeon 9800 XT.

The 6800 going for $50, but I also see a X800 XT for $100.

What's the better deal? Would either make at least 720p bearable? My main monitor is 2560x1440 so I really need a Dual-Link capable card. The G5 wont be used for gaming. I'm just trying to get it up and running again/Beef it up.

I was able to watch 720p video bearablely with the 5200 FX. Don't really know why a 9800 would struggle with it.
I've been using my new 6800 Ultra all day though and I gotta say, it's incredible. So I like it. 40-50FPS with Minecraft (I don't play it anymore but hey if I want to I can now), smoother 720p YouTube flash playback, I can actually watch HTML 5 video in TFF (although stuck on 360p) without having to wait for it to buffer and all around system wide smoothness that was just never there before.

I did extensive testing when I bought one of the best cards for the G5:

My conclusion (as a non-gamer) was, waste of money - no improvement.
I'd only recommend a newer card if you're stuck with a 64Mb one - that's where I've only seen improvement.
