Hi all,
I'm looking to buy a 17" Powerbook this fall... I see that the cheapest they usually go for on ebay is $1000, although I've seen some go for as low as $600. For buying a used pbook 17, would it be wiser to check out local newspapers/websites as opposed to using ebay or MR? Thanks in advance.

Down on Copperline...
Buying local will allow you to look over the system before you buy. With a laptop it would be nice to be able to make sure the hinges are still in good shape; the keyboard, trackpad and mouse button are working well; and that their are not too many dead pixels in the screen.

As to price, it's going to depend on what you are getting.
