Hello Apple Freaks

i keep having issues with PB G4 its network configuration problem

when i plug network cable here at the office IT The error reads...

10.0.0.8 is in use by 00:10:5a:9c:97:e0, DHCP server 10.0.0.1

i'm thinking it has to do something with airport, which i turned off

also the MAC address above is different form the MAC addres on PowerBook
I'm running OS X Tiger

please advice

Do you have your PowerBook manually set to be at the 10.0.0.8 IP address? It looks like it is trying to access the network on an IP address already occupied by another machine. I'd have to play with it, and I don't have a Mac in front of me now, but I would have to guess the IP is manually assigned. Otherwise, it looks like a problem with the actual DHCP server.

no its not manually set, it should pick up IP address from DHCP server,
10.0.0.8 is occupied by out NT server, why is it looking there?
PB G4 should read from the range of our IP pool, its not doing that

Hmm... I'd definately suspect the DHCP server, then. It definately looks like the server is assigning it 10.0.0.8 and your PowerBook finds that it is already taken. Try manually assigning it a similar but different IP address to see if you can find one that is open. If you can connect in such a way, that would pretty much prove the fault is out of the PowerBooks control.

manual add didn't work

when i startup in OS 9.2 i had the same issue, but i got to work by turning off Airport and changing TCP/IP to default and it worked fine

OS X problem?
