Programming Application

    This would kinda be good in the Applications part but it also fits here
    Is there a program for mac similar to visual basic for windows?
    in our information systems class we are programing and I would like to do some of this work portably, i think we are programming in VB script because we are making Visual Basic.NET programs .
    Please help and no im not fussed about cost

    Well, the developer tools come with extensive programming tools for Mac OS X. However, I am not sure if they can handle visual basic. They do support C, C++, Jave, Pearl, and Object C, oh, and Apple Script.

    Very nice interface with a great gui builder.

    RealBasic is the closest you will get.

    For VB.Net the Mono project might be of help (basically a .Net framework for Linux/Unix)

    There is no program on the mac or in the PC that will let you do your code absolutely portable when using any of the visual effects of windows (or macintosh).

    For console applications, you can make portable code in C, C++, Python, Perl, Java and Objective C.

    IIf you want a .NET framework for OS X, you can try Mono Project for OS X. If you want to develop Basic Applications, try RealBasic, but it's nowhere near Visual Basic for Windows.

    In my opinion, the best thing you can do is to have a Virtual PC do the dirty work for you.
