QT Streaming Server...not free anymore?

So, I was playing around the other day, trying to figure out how I could set up my own radio webcast. I used to have QTSS, and it was free. A great little app. But now you have to buy Panther Server to get it?

$1000?

Is this true? If so, that seems very foolish of Apple.

The free version is called Darwin Streaming Server.
