Ferraris are usually bought with cash by people who can easily afford them, such as myself. Ironically thanks to the massive amount of cash I made off of thousands of shares of Apple stock I bought at $20 per share, then sold many years later at $700.

One's personal Ferrari associate delivers the car in person which includes a complete visual inspection. Prior to delivery he's personally responsible for assuring their is no cosmetic imperfections. Thus when I arrive for my appointment the car is flawless.

Cash is King, see how easy that is...

(relax haters I don't care what you have to say)
Then your alarm woke you up to go to a dead end job

Weird. I've had numerous iPhone 5's and 3 different iPhone 5s's. I also worked at a major US carrier and never saw these issues. Granted I didn't look too closely at the ones I was selling but on mine I did and I never had any troubles at all

I received my second iPhone 5s today ( 32gb, spacegrey, T-Mobile).

Unfortunately i picked a flawed one once again. There's a 0.5 inch long scratch in the screen, which is easy to spot. The first 5s had a scratch on the back, a few nicks in the aluminium bezel and on top of that dust inside the camera.

A scratch in the screen right out of the box is just unacceptable for me and i will send it back tomorrow. Im that kind of guy who never uses a smartphone without any screen protection, so it bothers me alot knowing theres already a damn scratch in the screen...

The first iPhone i received about 2 weeks ago had these flaws i mentioned earlier, but without the dust inside the camera i guess i would have kept it. On top of that i decided to go for a 32gb model ( the first was a 16gb) - so i exchanged it - which has been unsuccessful.

My SG has one of those tiny nicks on the attenna. Like you, I feel like a $900 phone should be flawless. But again, it's such a tiny mark, that it'll be there eventually especially not using a case. Still deciding..

Hey OP,

Have you returned it yet? My Space-Grey 5s had very similar marks but they came off with a hard rub from a micro-fibre :p

Not the OP, but I have to try that. I've already tried a putty, a rubber eraser (which did take out some marks on my rMBP), and even finger nail. Doubt microfiber will do anything but doesn't hurt. :)

seriously? You're complaining about those small little specs that most people will hardly notice. If you use the phone without a case those specks will eventually happen overtime anyways...Nothing to lose sleep over

If it was a 1/4" scratch or so now thats a different story.

Hi all!

This is my first post here. I've followed the forums for awhile but never felt the need to post. Like a lot of you who were lucky to be in the first wave of orders at launch, I received my iPhone today. Gold 16gb Verizon.

It came out of the box with a few nicks and scratches on the back gold plate:

As small as they are, it's still disheartening to have a product come out of the box not at 100%. I'm not upset about it really but I went ahead and called Apple and was moved up the line to a top manager. I sent him the pictures. I told him I understand we're in a predicament because replacing it isn't so easy with the gold production situation. They're trying to come up with a solution and he's going to call me back. I told him I might be being ridiculous even calling about this but he assured me that I wasn't, that my phone should have come out of the box with no nicks or scratches.

I'm coming from a 4s and this is my first experience with the new aluminum/metal backing which I realize scratches more easily.

If it's easy to replace, even if it takes a few weeks I might go ahead and do it. Obviously I'm not wanting to part from the phone I have until I get the new one. :)

I just wanted thoughts from other Apple customers on what you would do. Would you want a replacement?

Also congrats to everyone getting their phones this week and for those of you still waiting, hang in there! It will be worth the wait!

I certainly would take them up on a replacement. In Oz to buy outright you are looking at $869 for the 16gig. They are engineered works of precision art & should arrive that way. We are talking Apple here after all. Good luck with a positive outcome.

I recontract my phone to easy mobile which i have no choice but to get my phone by delivery. They delivered my phone last Saturday night but the delivery guy don't want me to check the phone before i pay even if i insisted. He said i can call singtel if theres any problem. I paid it anyway because I didn't think there would be any problem. After that i found out that there are scratches on the back of the phone, i called the customer care but they say they will just contact me after 3 days, but shes not sure also what to do. I went to nearest singtel shop and the guy said i should go to Comcentre and so i did. Then the guy who spoke to me say they cant replace my phone because its not hardware defect. Anybody knows how to remove the deep scratches?

FWIW, Apple gladly swapped mine with the chipped chamfered edge. They even discussed how to exchange it to insure Apple would be aware they are coming from the factory like that. There was even someone else exchanging for the same reason, but I didn't catch what model they had. Mine was gold.

I also went to the apple store but mine only had a small nick. The genius bar specialist told me that since I purchased my phone through at&t, I should go to them to get it replaced since it came out defective from the box. At&t will take several weeks and I want this issue taken care of asap. Did you purchase your iPhone directly through apple? I don't know what to do now...

Did it ever occurred to you to do what the Apple Genius told you to do and take it to AT&T where you bought it?
