I'm anxious to start hearing reports on whether you guys are getting Samsung or LG displays. And if you have a LG are you getting IR issues. I would be SHOCKED if there are significant IR issues. If after 16 months the LG people having gotten a handle on this then they would need to be banished from the MBP business. With the multitude of returns and display replacements, people going thru 3,4 and more machines before they were satisfied, etc, you would think that Apple would do all they could to avoid a repeat of this Traveshamockery

I believe LG fixed the IR issue several months ago with a revision to the display. I think it was called A02 or something like that to denote the revision.

Some people even returned their Samsungs to get the new LG revised display due to its whiter whites.

I've often heard throughout the 16 months that if you got an LG without the IR issues that the colors were more vibrant than the Samsung

Loving mine... Doesn't seem to have issues to me. How do we check the display manufacturer?

I actually just posted a new thread on this:p

Here's the information and reports of IR on the new rmbp's.

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4034848?start=8340&tstart=0

Here's my thread if anyone has any additional info.

You can do this by posting the results of this command run via Terminal:

ioreg -lw0 | grep "EDID" | sed "/[^<]*</s///" | xxd -p -r | strings -6

Command doesn't seem to work on my base 15" rmbp... :(

If I understand things right (and no guarantees on that!) this is because you do not have the dedicated GPU - Iris Pro isn't getting the EDID info that this would display. I just skimmed the Apple Support thread and noticed that, you can find more info there.

Yea. The thread mentions to go

System Preferences > Displays > Color Tab > open profile and scroll down to the mmod line and see what the model number is. It doesn't specifically tell you what brand it is.

I get A022 for the model:

I hope someone with the samsung or LG can also do this and tell me what display I have. :)

I would not be surprised if IR still existed in the Haswell line. Thank god I escaped the LG carnage on the gen 1 series and lucked out with a Samsung. If you get this issue keep on escalating and complaining until you either get a refund or a satisfactory solution. It's not acceptable. Don't let anyone give you that "it's normal" nonsense or "even the Samsungs have it". It's a fix or refund situation. Period.

Mine says A019.
Going to do the IR test (http://www.marco.org/rmbp-irtest.html) and report back.

I have a samsung screen with my new macbook pro with 750M. Looks really nice :)

Can you please do the following :
System Preferences > Displays > Color Tab > open profile->scroll down to the mmod line, and tell us what the model number is?

Samsung screen here and I'm pretty happy with it. No problems from I can tell.
I have not done IR test yet though.

my 13" rMBP has passed IR tests and whites are pretty white with a very slight cool tint (a bit like my Air with a Samsung display). interested to see what we could come up with to figure out which manufacturer is which.

we have the same panel. could you please describe your display a bit? how do you find the white balance? have you tried the IR test?

if we could all compare ours, that could maybe give us an idea which is which.

so there seems to be 3 different models on the late 13" laptops: A018, A019 and A020 and the only samsung panel confirmed so far is A022 on a 15"...
So all 13" MacBooks = LG panels?
