iPod Save me a trip to the Apple Store!

alright well this isn't a huge problem,and if you people here can't figure it out,I'll take the 30 minute drive to the apple store
sometimes when i'm playing a song on my 4g 20gb ipod the song freezes,espically if I'll put it on hold.
it doesn't happen often,but it does.
and is there anyway to get media information from a cd without connecting it to the internet and without typing it in in Itunes?

freedb still allows you to download their whole database so you can do "local" net-less lookups. http://www.freedb.org/modules.php?name=Sections&sop=viewarticle&artid=12

How you look up yor tracks there remains a bit of an exercise on OS X, but is simple on Windows with Tag & Rename.

1. The 5 R's: Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall and Restore.

2. You can rip the CD while off-line, all tracks are just called Track 1 etc, then the next time you go on-line you mark the songs and choose Advanced -> Get CD Track Names to connect to CDDB.

You mean, that actually works? I've never known that! Man, that would be sweet!

Yes, it does work. iTunes embeds the cddbid into the files it rips to enable this. It is also useful for updating data that was incorrect in the database to begin with. (Typos, etc...).
