iPhone 12 Pro Self service repair iOS 15

Hi everyone!

I'll need to replace the battery of my iPhone 12 Pro soon as it gets noticeably worse. However, after that a system calibration is necessary. In the official manual it is stated, that the newest iOS version is a requirement for that, but my iPhone is running iOS 15 and I won't update. Does anyone have experience with the calibration and knows if older iOS versions work, even though it is stated otherwise in the manual?
