iPod Slow scrolling

On my XP based PC I had a big library of songs in iTunes. I ended up switching to winamp because every time I tried to scroll up or down there was a brutal delay, I thought it would be smooth like it is winamp.

Is it a lack of ram, or processor speed, or is there just a flaw with iTunes when you have too many songs in the library?

Probably about 15,000 songs. I know it makes a big difference but I can't remember if I had 512 mb or 1g, it is on my other computer.
