Somebody i need help about my ppc g4!!!

This is my first time posting threads and i'm sorry if i'm not in the exact right forum... But please give me hope to my problems!!
I use powerbook G4 right now. the version i think is panter (?).. Its 10.4.1.
I've heard and tried so i know that my laptop can't install and upgrade to 10.5, because mine does not have an intel. But I want to upgrade my computer so i was asking around but most say that I need to buy a new one, or to look for other solutions.
Does anyone know how to upgrade powerbook G4?
10.4.1 to higher ??
..or should i give up and buy a new one?? (to me that's the last option...)

And I still can't connect my i-phone (I-Tunes), because of the same reason... so i really need to upgrade, or come up with other solutions.
Can somebody please help me?

As long as your G4 CPU is 867 Mhz or faster and you have 512 MB of RAM or more then you can happily install 10.5, Apple don't sell it now but you should be able to track down a copy on Amazon or Ebay, just make sure it is a retail copy and not a machine specific one.

Hi and welcome to MR.

Just some clarification:
Mac OS X 10.3 is called "Panther", Mac OS X 10.4 is called "Tiger", Mac OS X 10.5 is called "Leopard" and Mac OS X 10.6 is called "Snow Leopard" and that is currently the current version of Mac OS X.
Btw, Mac OS X 10.4 goes up to 10.4.11 in point releases, which are free of charge using the Software Update feature under the menu.
Depending on what exact PowerBook G4 you have, you can install Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard onto a G4 with at least 867MHz (but faster is recommended) and 512MB RAM (again, more is recommended), as Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard was the Mac OS X releases abandoning PPC code and being Intel only.
To install Mac OS X 10.5 on your PowerBook you need to get your hands on a RETAIL version of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, which still costs a lot via eBay and such services. Apple doesn't offer them.

PS: Keep away from grey Restore DVDs for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, as they are machine specific and will not work with your PowerBook.

Mac OS X 10.3 Panther was released in 2003, Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger was released in 2005, Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard was released in 2007 and Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard was released in 2009.
PowerBook G4s have been released from 2000 till 2005.

L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
Bus Speed: 167 MHz
Memory : 1 GB DDR SDRAM
Does that seem ok to install 10.5 leopard?
If so, I'll check out e-bay/amazon look for it asap.

That PowerBook will be okay with Leopard, just don't expect any leaps in performance like with going from 10.3 to 10.4.
Also consider upgrading the RAM, up to 2GB with that model.

I have a g4 ibook running leopard 10.5.8 quite nicely, it is a 1.2 ghz processor with 512mb of ram. i will probably increase that to the max the machine can support which i believe is 1.25 gb. but other than that i have no issues with the way my ibook handles leopard.

i have a g4 ibook 800 running leopard with no problems. it has 1.12gb of ram, but it ran fine with 640 as well.
