Very fitting choice of song there.
I don't watch many films but I've noticed all these trailers have the same types of jokes, the same delivery. Seems very boring.

Movies targeted exclusively at audiences below the age of 6 and exclusively at the age of 17 do tend to all be identical.

Movies targeted at kids just 6 and under can be repeated every 3 years or so. You have a whole new pool of kids to bug their parents - the kids won't recognize that it's the same movie because they aren't familiar with the one from 3 years before.

The ones targeted at exactly the age of 17 are always completely pointless movies featuring nudity. Whooo, it's the first time you were legally allowed to go to the theater and see boobs with your immature friends and not have your parents involved. Nobody cares about anything in the movie besides the nudity.

Somehow that's still appealing to a large number of just turned 17 year olds despite the ubiquity of porn online.

Not coming out until next summer? That's about 3-4 years too late.
Agree. This movie looks a day late and a dollar short.

I bet it was shopped around til they found a CGI production gap to get a lower rendering service rate. All the 80's tunes tells me they got really cheap in the music licensing. I didn't hear a contemporary song in the list. Then there are the voice actors, no real big names. Would not surprise me they are only paying basic SAG rates and nothing else.

Whomever was in charge of this has no personal creative talent and only knows how to produce a product with the lowest cost and minimual accept quality. Amazing how many survive by only knowing the right people.

This is not a Hollywood culture lead movie. I am sure there were lots of talk of people from the town over how to do it right and they were dismissed. Expect this to do marginal with a lot of streaming.

Doesn't look anything like the real Angry Bird! Angry Bird would be rolling over in his grave! You at least have to cast an actor that looks like Angry Bird!

I thought the birds were angry because the pigs stole their eggs, as alluded to in the cut scenes from the original game.

My take is this movie has the classic "too many cooks" issues where there is no one charismatic creative force driving the whole process. It looks like it was developed by committee with market survey data driving scene selection and story-line. Expect a lot of title plugs in this one.

Came to this thread to post something along those lines, but you beat me to it! :)

(I was going to go with "Waaaahhhh!! Jason Sudeikis looks absolutely nothing like Angry Bird!!!! Waaahhhh! Ashton Kutcher / Noah Wylie (sic) played him so much better!")

There had to be a big talk about giving the birds a body and appendages. I'm sure it came down to the motion capture system they used could not only with a "beholder model" (old school D&D players get the reference) and it needed a body. I'm sure the nearly maximized the head to body proportion as much as the modeling package (were they too cheap t lease Renderman from Pixar?) could handle.

Now I am looking forward to see some exciting documentaries about them, like:

"Angry Birds and Illuminati: the secret of triangular shape"
"Dying swan. The real story behind angry birds. "
"Its not easy being green. Revelation of a pig"
...

I find it disgusting that Sony used an MJ song in this trailer after what they did to him. As for the movie itself, eh, might watch it when it comes out.

Do you know how much it cost to license a Michael Jackson track?
Yes I do. Actually, been told the MJs rates are petty low these days as his estate is desperate to keep the legacy going. Classic give and take negotiations. MJ's usual placement has been displaced by more current pop artists over the last decade. You never take the first offer of a legacy artist -- especially if they are deceased. My guess is they paid south of $25K for the song rights.

The only loyalty there is in Hollywood is the box office draw connected to your fame.
