I use a couple of better touch tool commands to just maximise two app windows to the left and right of the screen.

Could you provide more details of how to sue the touch tool commands?

    Thanks

There is a tool called Cinch that makes windows snap to one half of the screen, similar to Windows 7. It works really well for me.

I second bettersnaptool. For $1.99 it is a steal compared to most of the other suggestions, and it is VERY intuitive. All are good, but bettersnaptool definitely has the most bang for the buck.

BetterTouchTool already has more than you'll likely need and is exactly $0.00.
