I've got a G5 with a radeon 9600

I was looking in the console system log and I saw this

Jan 17 16:51:07 localhost kernel: ATIRadeon9700: using AGP

am I missing something?

That is just a message put in by one of the kernel developers to make the operating system look more elite and techy in order to make up for feelings of inadequacy (lack of friends, small penis size). I guess it means that your video card is "using AGP" which is a good thing I guess because it's an AGP card after all. Thanks kernel developer person, why didn't you tell us it was using electricity as well?

No, probably just using the same driver as 9700...

a bsd kernel accesses the devices of the machines totally differently, wether it is pci, pci-x, agp or whatever. At least that is what I was told, am not sure thought as I haven't had the time to verify.
It is a somewhat useful output i guess.

I know nvidia have universal drivers for there geforce cards 53.03 at mo I think. Does the 9600 use the same chipset as the 9700? I know the PC version of the 9600 gets trounced by most of the other Radeon 9000 (including the 9500) series cards so just wondered why it would use specifically 9700 drivers.
