Just ordered a 2012 15" i7 MBP. I'm so excited. This will be my 2nd MBP but I've had a 27" iMac for the last 2 years, which I loved but I just really missed the MBP. It should arrive on Saturday. Already ordering 16GB of RAM to upgrade and will upgrade the HDD at some point too. :D

WOOT!

Just bought my first Apple computer.

15" MacBook Pro with Retina display
2.6GHz i7
16GB RAM
256 Flash

So excited! I was deciding between this and waiting for the 27" iMac. I decided that I wanted the portability and I have a 25" monitor at home that I can always link it up to.

Just got the rMBP 15" at almost $390 off MSRP!

I've been using an early 2010 17"MBP with the 2.66 i7 dual core processor for over 2 years now and had my eye on the rMBP since release this year. The price was just a bit too rich for my blood as I wanted the 512Gb drive.

I was surfing the web tonight and decided to just check pricing on Amazon and low and behold, they had the 15" rMBP 2.6/8/512 for $2409! I did a double take. The base 15" rMBP was at the standard $2199. So for a little more than $200, you got the faster processor ($100 option if you customized it at Apple) and an extra 256Gb of storage! Plus no sales tax and I will get 3% back with my Amazon VISA for a grand total of $2337.

I had debated this exact setup back in August when we had our tax free holiday here in MA. I would have been able to pick it up for $2599 via the Education store with a $100 Apple itunes Back to School gift card. Thank goodness I held off.

I hope that it is OK to talk a little bit about pricing here. I am posting to help other get the same deal if they were in the same boat as me and were sitting on the fence. Good luck guys! Here's hoping for a Samsung screen:D!

Congratz, that's a great deal! If it had the 16GB ram I'd be all over it. Saving on the tax is huge. Gotta love Amazon.

My First Mac

I got my first Mac yesterday!!! I have been a long time PC user and decided to make the switch. I have had many other apple products in the past, and after reading this great forum, I knew a Mac would be my next computer!!

I considered the MacBook Air, but I liked the storage space/for price ratio of the Pro.

Getting a very gently used base mid-2012 MBP tomorrow for $750. Thoroughly tested it out today (well, everything but the TB port) and it's flawless except for the battery which has already dropped to about 90%. I was going to get a 13" MBA but I honestly couldn't pass up this deal. I will probably hang on to it until the MBA refresh next summer. In any case, it's going to be nice to have an upgrade over my CD MacBook which is pleading to be euthanized at the moment. :p

I debated the BTO option as well for the 16GB of RAM. But I usually only run Safari with a few windows open and Adobe Lightroom only and it only takes up about 5 GB of RAM on my MacPro so I will be OK. I don't do any Windows VM so I should be fine. I am sure I will itch to upgrade in another 2-3 years at which point 16GB should be standard.

Finally replaced my 6-year old BlackBook with a new 13" MacBook Pro. I originally got the $1199 base version last week, however, after seeing Best Buy was having a 1-day $150 off sale (on 11/18) on the $1499 version I went back to the Apple store. They price matched it once I showed them the advertisement. I returned the one I bought last week and got the 13" MBP i7 for $1349 + tax. I didn't think it was worth $300 more but for $150 more, I'll take it. SSD coming soon.

I considered all the different MacBooks ranging from the 11" MBA to the 15" rMBP and the 13" MBP is the best bang for my buck considering I don't need a quad-core or discrete graphics. The 13" rMBP's screen was really nice but I couldn't justify its cost. 13" MBA was a really close second but I really wanted an integrated ethernet port and the option for 16GB RAM.

I just bought a refurbished 2010 2.66 i7 15" from Newegg yesterday morning at 3a.m. EST. I'm interested to see what I get, since newegg isn't an authorized reseller. I paid $1199 which is less than it was last on Apple.com. I'm going to upgrade it to 8 GB of RAM and a Samsung 830 SSD.:D

I'm about to hit the button on a new 13" MBP, just as soon as the Black Friday deals are revealed on the Apple UK website. :)

I went for a refurbished MacBook Pro 2.9GHz Dual-core i7 in the end, along with a 27" TB display.

Should be here in approx 8 days, good times!

My 2011 iMac was part of a big lot needing its WD HDD replaced on a recall. It was the base 21.5" model for $1199.99. I took it in and they messed it up. The manager there said they would swap it out for the same or better current model. I asked if they would swap it for a 2012 MBP thinking they would say no. She said she would go see. She came back with a brand new 15 inch cMBP 2.3 i7, a $600 upgrade over my year and a half old iMac. Plus they did a free data migration for me. Super nice indeed! I love this way more than my iMac though that was awesome too. This system geekbenches at around 12000 while my iMac was at 8000. I love the portability. These really are well thought out in design and use. Awesome!

Just bought 3 new MacBook Pros on Amazon, they were really awesome deals.

Got the 13" MacBook Pro for $970 shipped with Saturday delivery, so it arrives tomorrow. That saved me $330 over the one I just bought from the Apple Store that I will now be returning.

Also bought 2 brand new 15.4" MacBook Pros with retina displays with the 2.6GHz i7, 8GB RAM, and 512GB SSD options for $2150 each. I saved about $800 on each one, so that's a total of $1600.

Overall I saved about $2000 on 3 laptops on Black Friday and I didn't even leave my house! :)

I got a 15" rMBP from a local reseller just now. I was pretty suprised when I found out that my laptop production week was Week 25! That is from June. So that means I got Lion pre-installed on my laptop and Mountain Lion came out 4 months ago. Thats okay though because I get ML free with the up to date program.
