Hello,

I am trying to install 10.4 Tiger on my system, currently 10.3. Disc one installs fine but disc two keeps hanging at the same spot 55% iTunes, there is a slight scratch on the disc. Could the scrath be the reason for the trouble?

Cheers.

More than likely, yes, especially if it's always the same spot.

The workaround, if it's always iTunes that causes the problem, is simple:

Do a custom install, and don't install iTunes. You can just download the newer version and install that later (you would anyway when you ran software update).

I'd actually remove all the "extra" software that's on disc 2, let the install complete, then go back and install whatever you really need off that disc (they can be installed individually) one at a time, skipping anything you can download from Apple. You can also copy the individual installers you want off the disc with a bit of work, so you'll be sure which ones are ok before you try to run them--if there's an error, it'll happen while copying, rather than while running the installer.
